Hypnotherapy services at Brisbane Hypnosis Centre

Brisbane Hypnosis Centre has been helping people in Brisbane and beyond since 1997. Our three clinical hypnotherapists, Glenn Chandler, Carol Moore, and Philip Hollingdale, work individually with each person who comes to us. The service areas below give a general sense of what we work with, but they are not a fixed menu. If you are unsure where you fit, simply book a General First Session and tell us what is going on. We will take it from there.

Sessions are available in-clinic at our Everton Park rooms, and online via Zoom for people throughout Queensland and Australia.

Smoking, vaping, alcohol and gambling

This is one of the areas where clinical hypnotherapy has the strongest record, and it is work we have been doing here for over thirty years. Our quit smoking program was first developed in the early 1990s, and it remains the foundation of how we approach habits and dependencies. Whether you are working to quit smoking, quit vaping, change your relationship with alcohol, or address a gambling habit, the sessions are tailored to you personally, not to a generic programme.

Anxiety, fears and emotional wellbeing

Anxiety, panic, low confidence, phobias, and the aftermath of difficult experiences are among the most common reasons people come to us. Hypnotherapy works well in this area because it addresses the patterns and responses that have taken hold beneath conscious awareness, not just the surface symptoms. We work with anxiety and panic disorders, fears and phobias, confidence and self-esteem, releasing the past, sadness and grief, and stress-related habits such as nail biting.

Weight, eating and physical health

Our approach to weight and eating is not about willpower or restriction. We work with the emotional and habitual patterns that drive eating behaviour, alongside whatever physical health goals a person is working towards. This includes sugar and food habits, motivation for exercise, and support for people managing their weight after GLP-1 medication. We also work with pain management, sleep and insomnia, and broader health and healing goals.

IBS and gut issues

Gut-directed hypnotherapy is one of the best-evidenced applications of clinical hypnotherapy, with a strong body of published research supporting its use for irritable bowel syndrome. We offer hypnotherapy for IBS and gut issues as a standalone treatment or alongside medical care. If you would like to see how this works in practice, Philip has recorded a short video explaining the approach.

Focus, memory and performance

We work with people who want to sharpen their focus, memory and concentration, manage procrastination, or prepare mentally for high-performance situations. This includes students, professionals, and musicians, artists and performers working on performance anxiety, creative blocks, or audition preparation. Glenn has also developed an online focus and attention program, available as a one-off purchase with a free first session.

Children and young people

We see children and young people from the age of 16. Sessions are adapted to suit younger people, and parents are welcome to be involved in the process. If you are a parent seeking help for a child under 16, we are happy to suggest appropriate referral options.

Clinical supervision

We offer clinical supervision for practising hypnotherapists and other therapeutic practitioners. Please visit the supervision page for details of what is available and how to arrange it.

Why Brisbane Hypnosis Centre

We have been in practice since 1997, in the same location in Everton Park. Most of the people who come to us find us through someone they know, and that matters to us. It means the world to us that what we do is worth recommending.

Each of our practitioners trained under the practice's founder, David Kennedy, and has continued developing their skills over many years of clinical work. We do not use trademarked systems or rigid protocols. Sessions are shaped around the individual person, and your therapist will discuss a plan with you in your first appointment.

Session fees are listed in full on our fees page.

To make an appointment, you can book online at any time, or call us on 07 3354 4555 during business hours. Same-week appointments are often available. If you are not sure which service to book, choose a General First Session and use the comments field to tell us a little about what you are looking for.
