Vaping isn’t the same habit as smoking, and quitting it often needs a different approach. Glenn, Carol and Philip have been working with people who want to stop vaping for several years now, and in that time the habit has changed considerably. This has shaped how we work with it.
When people first came to us wanting to stop vaping, the habit looked a lot like smoking. Most people who vaped had started as smokers; they used their vape at similar times and in similar ways, and the same social norms applied. A standard approach modelled on a smoking habit worked well enough.
That’s changed. What we see now is quite different:
We’ve adapted how we work to reflect this.
What happens in session, including what we focus on, is worked out based on getting to know you: how you use your vape, what drives the habit, and what you’re concerned about in stopping. We begin with a conversation, and together you and your hypnotherapist will create a plan for how you are going to make the change.
But your session won’t just be a practical chat — because we’re a hypnosis practice, it will involve formal hypnosis alongside more practical, conscious-mind work. We give you tools that are useful beyond the session itself. Importantly, the techniques the hypnotherapist uses will be according to your needs — what works for one person won’t always be appropriate for another. Hypnotherapists are trained in a range of different techniques, and it’s so much more than just a process of guided relaxation.
The session fee for quit vaping is $295, with 2 hours allowed. A concession rate of $205 applies for people aged 16–22. If you need a payment plan, we can arrange that — please get in touch before booking.
Full details including reduced fees are on our session fees page.
The pull to vape is largely habitual — automatic responses to particular times, moods, or situations. Conscious effort alone works against the habit at a surface level but doesn’t always reach the layer where the pattern actually lives. Hypnotherapy works at a deeper level of mind, which is why it can be useful when other approaches haven’t stuck.
For some people the discomfort of stopping vaping is real, and some of it can be physical, but how we experience and respond to that discomfort is shaped significantly by the mind. This is well studied in scientific literature, particularly as it relates to pain and discomfort, and that’s where hypnotherapy can help.
If you’d like to talk through whether this is the right fit before booking, you’re welcome to call us on 07 3354 4555 or email [email protected].
To some extent, yes, and this shapes how we approach the work. Vaping tends to be a more constant habit with higher nicotine doses and fewer social restrictions than smoking. We have adapted our approach over several years based on what we have found works. But everyone’s habit is different, so first we need to get to know you.
Usually people enjoy success in a single session, though we will help in the best way for you, and follow-up support is of course available. If you are unsure, you are welcome to call or email us before booking and we will give you an honest guide.
Yes. Many people who vape have never smoked. Our approach is built around the individual and their habit, not around a smoking background.

Yes. Sessions are available in person at our Everton Park clinic or online via Zoom at the same fee.
No. We cannot make guarantees about therapeutic outcomes, and we think it is important to be honest about that. Our professional Code of Ethics does not permit it, and it would be misleading (and potentially not legal) to promise a specific result. What we do is careful, personalised work, and we’re interested in your success. We know the way we go about things is helpful for people, and we want that for you, too.
We start by understanding your habit properly: when you vape, what drives it, and what you are concerned about in stopping. The session then includes formal hypnosis structured around your specific patterns, alongside practical tools you can use after the session.
