Watch: Hypnotherapy for IBS and Gut Issues in Brisbane

The earliest research into the benefits of gut-directed hypnotherapy goes back to the early 1980s. Professor Peter Whorwell, along with his hospital colleagues, conducted a randomised control trial in 1984 that demonstrated that hypnotherapy was effective for the treatment – not just management, but resolution – of IBS and similar conditions.

From that point onward the efficacy of hypnotherapy as a treatment protocol for gut-related issues (including inflammatory bowel diseases, IBS, and digestive problems) has been further studied, providing for a large volume of evidence attesting to its efficacy. A Google Scholar search of ‘hypnotherapy and gut issues‘ will show up many results, it’s worth a look.

The mind-body connection is readily apparent when it comes to our gut and digestive system. Many people will say that one of the first things that occurs when we are scared or upset or stressed is that we experience symptoms in our gut. And of course, our language is filled with phrases like “I can feel it in my gut that something was wrong” and “my gut feeling” and “my stomach dropped” that indicate that we associate our gut with things that are occurring in our mind.

Sometimes it’s emotions, sometimes it’s circumstances, sometimes it is specific foods, or eating patterns … and sometimes it seems like it’s none of these things but our gut isn’t happy anyway. Whatever it is or it isn’t, we can still have an influence on the way our gut behaves.

We help people with these issues, and we’d be happy to help you.
